Amogh Barath

Hi, my name is Amogh Barath, and I have been a senior student of Prithi auntie for the past nine years. I would like to share a few things about my guru.

The first is about her style of teaching. It is very methodical. She teaches the bhavambehind the songs rather than making you merely repeat the lyrics. She also encourages you to develop a sense of individuality in your singing, allowing you to express yourself in your own unique way instead of just singing like a parrot and mechanically repeating words. In addition, she has an exceptional attention to detail in ragams. She is very quick to catch any errors, including grammatical mistakes, and this sharp eye for detail is truly inspiring to me.

The second thing I would like to speak about is her as a singer and as a professional. She is such an inspiration because she is at the top of her field in her professional work while also being an outstanding Carnatic musician. When you attend one of her concerts, whether it is the kritis or the manodharma, everything is a sheer joy to listen to. This beautiful duality of being both an accomplished professional and an exceptional singer is deeply motivating. It shows how someone who is balancing two demanding lives can still excel in both.

The third aspect I would like to talk about is Carnatic Gurukul. Prithi auntie’s school is not just a formal place where you go to take lessons; it truly feels like a community. You get to make new friends within your peer group, meet new mentors, and connect with many people. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn, to have fun, and to build meaningful relationships with others who are like-minded and share a deep interest in Carnatic music.

Nikila Swaminathan

My name is Nikila, and I have been learning Carnatic music from Prithi auntie for the past eleven years, and she is so much more than just a teacher to me. She is deeply dedicated. She does not teach us simply because it is her job, but because music is truly her passion. She genuinely cares about each and every one of us and always puts our best interests first. Even when we doubt ourselves and fail to see our own potential, she understands us better than we understand ourselves and always finds a way to bring out the best in each of us.

She has built such a wonderful community that it truly feels like a home to me. Everyone knows everyone, and it is an uplifting and supportive environment. We have all grown up together, learned together, and supported one another because of the space she has created for us. Honestly, so much of who I am today—my values, my discipline, and my confidence—comes from what I have learned here and from her.

As a teacher, she is incredibly detail-oriented and deeply passionate. She gives her all to everything she does. But what truly makes her special is the way she connects with her students. She supports us through tough times, celebrates our achievements, and treats each and every one of us like family.

Nikhitha Swaminathan

I have been learning from Prithi auntie since I was five, and over time, she has become like a second mother to me. She is the one who taught me Carnatic music from the very basics—not just how to sing the notes, but how to truly understand and enjoy them. The way she explains the ragas, the fine details in each song, and how she connects everything back to the emotion and feeling behind the music is something truly special.

Every class was something I looked forward to, not only because of the singing, but also because of the people. Since all the classes were held in her home, the atmosphere was always warm and welcoming, like a second home for all of us. It naturally brought everyone closer, and that environment made learning feel fun, comfortable, and something I genuinely wanted to be a part of.

She has always been there for me—encouraging me through every mistake and celebrating every small success. She is patient and dedicated, and she knows exactly how to help me improve without ever making the process stressful. Over the years, she has taught me so much more than just music: discipline, confidence, and how to stay committed to something you love, even when it becomes challenging.

I honestly would not be who I am today without her guidance and support. I am deeply grateful for everything she has done, and for all the time, effort, and care she has put into teaching me over the years.

Sree Ranjani Raghav

Hello, I’m Sri Ranjani from Frisco. Our daughters, aged 10 and 5, have been learning Carnatic music from Smt. Prithi Narasimhan at Carnatica Gurukul in Plano for the past 10 months. It has been an incredibly enriching experience for them.

As parents who enjoy Carnatic music, we wanted our girls to truly appreciate its depth and discipline. When we found Prithi’s website, we were impressed by her musical experience, accolades, and performances, as well as her focus on 1:1 sessions rather than large group classes.

Since starting, we’ve been extremely confident in our decision. Prithi’s well-structured, online curriculum allows students to practice from home effectively, even with minimal parental musical background. Her blend of traditional pāṭhāntaram with a modern, tech-savvy approach is remarkable. During lessons, she is attentive, adapts in real time, and ensures each child gets the guidance they need.

We are truly grateful for all her effort and dedication. Thank you, Prithi!

Anish Barath

I would like to say a huge thank you to Preeti aunty. She is not only an amazing singer but also a fantastic teacher who makes learning Carnatic music truly enjoyable. She has a special way of taking even the most difficult songs and explaining them in a way that makes them clear and understandable to me. We deeply appreciate her patience and the way she encourages us to give our best without putting us under pressure. Thank you so much for being a wonderful guru and for always inspiring us every week to strive for excellence.

Driti Gajjela

Hi, my name is Driti, and I have been learning music with Prithi aunty for about ten years now. It has been such a rewarding and growth-filled experience. Prithi aunty truly takes the time to ensure that I learn proper technique and grow as a singer, not just memorize songs. She never rushes us. Even though the learning process can be challenging at times, she has given us such a strong musical foundation that we can always rely on. She has also built a wonderful music community where I can look to my peers for mentoring, support, and practice. Learning music has already shaped me so much, and I am excited to continue growing in the future.

Priya Hariharan

My daughter Priya and I have been learning from Prithi for seven years. Our journey began when I came for my younger daughter’s voice test, and Prithi encouraged me to start learning too. After a long gap in music, she patiently rebuilt my foundation, starting with the Mohana Varnam, and today I can sing complex compositions confidently.

Prithi’s dedication and passion inspire every student. She balances her career and family while making each class engaging. Her teaching combines traditional methods with technology—preparing detailed notations, researching song meanings, and ensuring correct pronunciation—so we experience not just the notes, but the bhavam behind the music.

She recognizes that every student’s journey is unique, guiding us patiently at our own pace. Even complex pieces like Bhavayami, Marukelara, and the Pancharatnam Jagadananda Karaka feel approachable under her guidance.

Through her, both my daughter and I have developed a deep respect for Carnatic music. Her warmth, rigor, and joy make learning disciplined yet joyful. We feel blessed and grateful for the strong foundation she has given us. Thank you, Prithi, for being not just a teacher, but a wonderful guide and friend.

Dhrithi P. Ajay

Hi auntie, my name is Dhrithi. I've been learning since pre-K with you. One of my favorite songs I learned is Devadhi Dheva. I really like the small little nuances and how detailed the song is. I really like how detailed you are in teaching and how you fix even just small little gamaka errors and it makes the whole song more aesthetic and very beautiful. I love how much time you put into teaching all of your students and you don't show favoritism to any of your students. You really take time to every single student and you find little things that make a student special and really work on building those little things up. Thank you so much for teaching me for all these years.

Nirmala Gajjela

Hi, my name is Nimmi. Watching my children grow under Prithi’s guidance has been truly amazing. It is not always easy to preserve our Indian traditions while living in the U.S., but Prithi makes it possible. She is incredibly hardworking, dedicated, and always keeps her students’ best interests at heart. I am so proud of how far my children have come, and I am excited for everything they will continue to learn with Prithi. We are deeply grateful for all that she does.

Jatin Gajjela

Hi, my name is Jatin, and I have been learning music from Prithi aunty since I was four years old. My journey with her has helped me grow in so many ways, especially in becoming more confident as a singer. Prithi aunty has supported me throughout, particularly during my voice change, and she made the entire process feel smooth and comfortable. Even on days when I feel demotivated, she reminds me of how far I have come and what I can look forward to in the future, which always helps me get back on track.

Aayush and Aaradhya Sathesh

Hi, Prithi Aunty. You are an outstanding teacher. Thank you for your wonderful teaching. You truly are the best teacher in the world.

Charanya Natarajan

Thank you so much for everything. You are a great teacher, a great guru, a great mentor, more than a friend. And your teaching skills are awesome. Thank you so much for putting a lot of efforts for each and every kid, every student in your school. You are more than a mentor and more than a teacher to me. Thank you so much for everything.

Janaki Gopalan

Hi, I’m Sharada, a senior adult student of Vid Smt. Prithi Narasimhan from Dallas. I have been learning from her for seven years, and both my children, Amogh and Anish, have also been her students from a very young age.

As a musician, Prithi is highly accomplished, with a honey-like voice, mastery over ragas, and performances across the U.S. and India, including the prestigious December Margazhi concerts in Chennai. She brings this depth of experience into her teaching.

As our Guru, she emphasizes precision, shruti, and tālam, tailoring her teaching to each student’s abilities. She patiently helps adults like me resume learning after long gaps and motivates children to reach their full potential. Her meticulous approach has helped my children perform successfully in local, national, and international stages.

Prithi embodies Practice, Perseverance, and Patience, teaching not just music but discipline, time management, and life skills. Her use of technology, recordings, and detailed notations makes learning effective beyond class. She also provides leadership through recitals and performance opportunities.

We feel truly blessed to have such a dedicated, passionate, and inspiring Guru. Thank you, Prithi, for your guidance, mentorship, and friendship.

Krithika Kalyanasundaram

I have been a student of Prithi since right around the time the pandemic started. And I've always been interested in music, but never had any formal training in Carnatic music. And my sister and my niece had already been learning from Prithi. So it was a great opportunity for me to step in and learn. And one of the best things that I appreciate about Prithi is she will give you very honest feedback and she will keep you accountable. And the most unique thing about Prithi’s teaching is she's able to offer both synchronous and asynchronous learning. So if you are a working professional like me, it is great to be able to come back to your lessons and just pick up where you left previously. And what more can you ask for from a guru? So I'm truly lucky that I've been able to learn from Prithi for so long and I will continue to do so for the appreciable future. Thank you, Prithi.

Jhanani Ganesan

Hi, I’m Janani, and I’m learning music again after a long gap, alongside my 7-year-old daughter, Tanvi, who studies under Shruthi Ganesh. I want to especially appreciate Prithi for her teaching. She breaks complex swaras and sahityams into simple patterns, making it easy to grasp all the nuances.

She is extremely patient—whenever I struggle with sangatis, she repeats them until I get them right. I also love her digital approach: recordings of lessons and our practice sessions help us correct mistakes at home. Her focus on tala and shruti discipline has boosted my confidence. I’m very grateful to have Prithi as my teacher.

Rhea Anees and Jyothi Yenireddy

My name is Rhea, and I have been learning from Prithi Auntie for almost two years. My experience with her has made Carnatic singing truly fun for me. She creates video lessons for her students, which help us learn independently while also allowing us to learn at our own pace. I never feel rushed in her classes, and that helps me understand better and get the most out of every lesson. All my classes with her are both enjoyable and effective because of the stress-free environment she creates. She also gives us many opportunities to learn how to sing in front of an audience, which builds our confidence.

Hi, my name is Jyoti, and I am Rhea’s mom. Preeti is an incredible teacher. My daughter has grown so much musically because of Preeti’s patience and deep passion for music. The combination of expert coaching, recorded lessons, exceptional organization, and constant motivation creates the perfect environment for learning. Students always feel supported, inspired, and positively challenged. She sets clear expectations, which helps students stay focused and understand what is required for a fulfilling and enjoyable musical journey.

Shwetha Belame

Your Carnatic music teaching techniques are truly amazing. The way you introduce each lesson—explaining the scale, swarasthanas, and gamakas—helps us understand and learn the kriti deeply. Highlighting the differences between sangatis, especially in complex compositions like Meru Samana with over 10 sangatis, makes learning so much easier.

Your attention to detail in notations, video recordings, pronunciation, and breath placement—particularly in Sanskrit compositions like the Pancharatna Jagadananda Karaka—is incredible. These nuances make challenging pieces approachable and intuitive.

Learning under you is not just effective but also a lot of fun. We feel truly blessed to be your students and look forward to learning many more beautiful compositions from you. Thank you so much for your guidance, patience, and dedication.

Priya Harish and Sahana Harish

Hi, I’m Priya from Dallas, Texas. My children, Sahana and Lakshya, have been learning music from Prithi for the past three and a half years, and it has been a wonderful journey. From day one, Prithi has been patient, encouraging, and deeply understanding of each child’s learning style.

She personalizes her teaching beautifully—challenging the older child with advanced lessons while giving the younger one a strong foundation. She teaches not just songs, but also the meaning, emotion, and techniques behind them, helping the children connect deeply to the music. Her guidance builds confidence, discipline, and a love for the art, while fostering teamwork between students.

Both my girls have grown tremendously under her mentorship, and Sahana especially has seen great improvement in vocals and gamakams, while developing a true enjoyment for music. Prithi is, without doubt, the best guru we could have asked for, and we are deeply grateful for her dedication and passion.

Jyothi and Sathish Heddese and their songs Vishnu and Abhiram

Hi, we are from the Heddese households. We have two boys, 19 and 15 now, and we've been very fortunate and very lucky to have Prithi as the music teacher for our kids. We are so happy that she's imparting this great art form in our kids. Prithi’s insist on high standards is what I personally most admire, and I have seen how it has helped our kids. Thank you.

Jyothi - We've been very lucky, you know, both Vishnu and Abhiram have been very lucky to have found a teacher like you, who's so systematic and disciplined in the approach towards music, and I really love the way that you are taking care of them like a parent, and you truly care for each one of your students, and you never compromise on quality. That is something that I really have so much high respect for you. Thank you, Prithi. Wishing you the best always.

Manasvi Kaipa

These past eight years of music have shaped me into the person that I am today, and I want to thank you for it. From the beginning days of learning Sarli Swarams and Janta Swarams, to now attempting mini-concerts, it has been a solid journey. I remember one of my first concerts ever, with my batch, singing nottuswarams. Now, just recently, I had my second mini-concert. It's pretty hard to believe that I was able to achieve that, but I couldn't have done it without your guidance. Thank you for patiently and thoroughly guiding me through every single lesson. I'm so blessed to have you as my guru, and I'll always be grateful to be learning from you in this musical journey. Again, thank you, for everything you've done to contribute to my sangitam.

Manogna Bommadevara

Hi Prithi ma’am, you are the best teacher ever. Your class truly lights up my day, and I really enjoy the constructive feedback you give us. Thank you so much for that. I love how patient and precise you are in your teaching, and I appreciate every class and every single moment I get to spend learning from you. I also love how passionate you are about music, as it inspires me to grow and develop more and more. I hope to continue growing under your guidance, because your unique teaching style has helped me so much over the years. It motivates me to improve and never give up. I deeply admire your determination and dedication to the art you pursue, and I truly hope to become like you one day. Thank you so much, Prithi ma’am. I am incredibly grateful to have you as my teacher and my mentor.
