Prithi has been recognized with numerous awards for her exceptional music teaching, including the prestigious Gana Kala Acharya title from the Carnatica Archival Center. Renowned for her innovative approach, she has seamlessly incorporated technology into teaching traditional music, blending her expertise as an IT professional with her passion for music. Her Vidhyaadhaanam lessons stand as a testament to how she effectively uses technology to enhance and simplify the learning experience, making traditional music more accessible to students.
A "Teacher" imparts knowledge of music, outlines the curriculum, and provides techniques for learning it. A "Guru," on the other hand, guides students on how to approach music, understand its essence, and internalize it. The process of internalizing music is a lifelong journey that demands consistent and dedicated effort. This philosophy is one that Prithi passionately upholds, making her a highly sought-after instructor for serious aspirants of Carnatic music and its traditions. Together with her daughter, Shruthi Ganesh, and Vaibav Ramu, a senior disciple of Vid. Chitravina Sri P. Ganesh and her own senior students, she focuses exclusively on one-on-one teaching, viewing group sessions primarily as opportunities for practice, idea exchange, and inspiration. Her vision is driven by a robust "Gurukulam" system, supported by a team of highly qualified teachers who are accomplished performing artists, each with over 100 concerts to their name, and experienced mentors who have a decade of learning and performing behind them, providing strong support for junior and intermediate level students.
Encouraged by her guru Shri K.N. Shashikiran, Prithi began teaching music to young children in 2013, and today, she is a highly sought-after Carnatic music guru in the USA. In recognition of her dedication, passion, and excellence in teaching and promoting Carnatic music in North America, as well as her own vocal talent, she was awarded the "Gana Kala Acharya" title by Carnatica during their silver jubilee celebrations in 2022. In 2015, Prithi received the "DroneAcharya" award for excellence in Carnatic vocal teaching from Vidwan Shri. K.N. Shashikiran, and the "Kala Seva Rathna" award for her contributions to Carnatic music from Cleveland's Shri V.V. Sundaram during the Sangeet Saamraat series.
Prithi offers personalized one-on-one Carnatic music lessons to students in the Plano/Frisco area of Dallas and conducts remote lessons for those outside the region. She believes in the importance of the Gurukula system, where music is deeply understood beyond surface-level listening. The nuances of music, including its grammar, are best taught individually, considering each student’s unique tonal quality and voice structure. To provide this personalized attention, lessons will be offered either directly by Prithi or by one of her co-teachers, ensuring each session is tailored to meet the individual needs of the student. This approach allows students to progress at their own pace, build confidence, and have the time to grow. Prithi firmly believes that with the right guidance and individualized attention, every student has the potential to excel, which can only be achieved through these focused, one-on-one lessons.
She is the founder and director of the Carnatica Archival Center for Music (USA), Carantica Gurukul in Dallas, and the INDUS Fine Arts Conservatory, through which she trains students of all levels, from beginners to advanced musicians. Many of her students have had the honor of performing in the US and in the prestigious Chennai Margazhi Music Festival. Prithi has also led several archival projects, such as YAATHRAA - Travel through Composers, Thyagaraja Vaibhavam, Dikshithar Vaibhavam, Purandaradasa Vaibhavam, and the Raga Aradhana series on Inaiyavaani radio.
