Prithi Narasimhan is a popular Carnatic vocalist, and a highly sought after and reputed Carnatic music instructor, voice trainer and voice coach, based in Dallas, Texas, USA. Prithi is a versatile singer, and a multi-genre vocalist, noted for her melodious, dynamic and crisp singing style. She is a senior disciple of Kalaimamani Vidwan Shri. K.N.Shashikiran and Vidwan Chitravina Shri P.Ganesh, the popular Carnatica Brothers duo. She was recently conferred the title Gana Kala Acharya by Carnatica, one of the most prestigious organizations in the music industry, on the occasion of their silver jubilee celebrations for her passion and dedication to Carnatic music through teaching and her talent as a vocal artiste.
Prithi regularly performs professional vocal concerts in the US and India, and has been performing in the coveted Chennai Margazhi Music Season since 2016. Her performances were featured in prestigious venues like Carnatica and Parthasarathy Swami Sabha’s Global Heritage Festival, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Bramma gana sabha, Arkay Convention Center (Madhuradhwani), Chennai Fine Arts, Hamsadwani, Paddhathi Music Fest, Nanganallur Thyagaraja Sangeetha Samaj, Gayatri Fine Arts, Kovaiyil Thiruvaiyaaru, Nadha Sudha, Guruvayoor Krishna Temple, Thiruvambady Sangeethothsavam, Pammal Sathsangam Sabha and Madipakkam saba, to name a few. She has also performed for Frisco Hanuman Temple Nada Seva (Dallas), Melharmony OVK Bach festival (Chicago), Sangeet Seva (Madison Mandir, WI), Sayanotsavam (Aurora, IL), Papanasam Shivan festival (Dallas), Nadhopasana (Dallas), Raga Archana (San Antonio), Carnatica’s IND-US Fest, Carnatica’s Ganotsavam (Dallas), etc.
Her concerts have been received well and her December season concert for Paddhathi music festival in 2018 was reviewed positively in Dinamalar. Her concert for Kovaiyil Thiruvaiyaaru in 2018 and 2019 were telecast in Pudhu Yugam TV. She was also featured in an interview by News18 channel in the Margazhi season segment, along with many leading artists, to share her musical journey. Her recent advanced RTP concert in the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, presented as a duo with her daughter Kum. Shruthi Ganesh, a rising young vocalist, was reviewed highly by eminent musician and musicologist Vid. Dr. Radha Bhaskar.
Encouraged by her guru Shri K.N.Shashikiran, she started teaching music to young children since 2013 and today she is a highly sought after and reputed guru in Dallas. She offers carnatic music lessons to the Plano/ Frisco belt in Dallas to serious and passionate aspirants, and also uses long distance modes to students outside the Dallas area. She is the founder and director of Carnatica Archival Center for Music (USA), INDUS Fine Arts Conservatory, and Carantica Gurukul in Dallas, through which she offers Carnatic music lessons to many students in the US. Prithi's students have won several competitions from beginner to advanced manodharma category in many prestigious international music competitions and have been performing in the prestigious Chennai Margazhi music season and across the US and online platforms. She conducted the Carnatic Symphony with her guru Shri K.N.Shashikiran in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2017 and the Carnatic Harmony program in the Cleveland Thyagaraja festival in 2019 herself.
She was conferred Gana Kala Acharya award in 2022 by Carnatica during their silver jubilee celebrations in recognition of her passion, dedication and excellence in teaching and propagating Carnatica music in North America, and also her talent as a carnatic vocalist. She was honored with the "DroneAcharya" award for excellence in Carnatic vocal teaching by Vidwan Shri. K.N.Shashikiran in 2015. Prithi was also presented the "Kala Seva Rathna" award for her service to Carnatic Music by Cleveland Shri V.V. Sundaram in 2015, in the Sangeet Saamraat series.
Prithi's passion for music enabled her to start a free educational program called Vidhyaadhaanam (Click the link to check it out) through which she shares music lessons in the form of instructional videos to support the learning of aspiring students who do not have access to teachers. She also founded INDUS Fine Arts Conservatory, a non-profit public charity to support the cause of music and fine arts.She has also been working on Carnatic Fusion projects and has worked with Indian film/ western music composers on innovative fusion projects. While music is her passion, she is also a Cyber Security professional and works in a senior leadership role in this space. She holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering and a Masters degree in Management and Systems from New York University.
